Perched atop Tahoe?s Donner Summit, Sugar Bowl Resort is the closest major resort to Sacramento and the Bay Area. Sugar Bowl offers terrain to accommodate beginners and challenge experts, spreading across four peaks serviced by 13 lifts and 1500 acres with 500 inches of annual snowfall. As one of the country's oldest ski areas, Sugar Bowl has kept it's classic ski atmosphere while providing modern amenities. Guests can access the resort through two portals--a quick ride on the historic gondola to the snow bound Village or slope side parking at the modern Mt. Judah Day Lodge.
The Lodge at Sugarbowl offers 27 hotel rooms slopeside and is accessible only by gondola. Ski-in-ski-out rental properties are also available. Additional lodging sits 10 miles east in Truckee.
Ski and snowboard lessons and rentals available. The 7,000-square-foot Mountain Sports Learning Center has ticketing, lessons, and rentals under one roof. Childcare for children ages 3 years to 6 years. General Admission days offer free lessons and rentals.
Racing, snowshoe tours, and snowboarding. Many more winter activities available within 10 miles.
Direct access to Royal Gorge, the largest cross country center in North America.
All trails are open for snowboarding. The Switching Yard Terrain Park includes three distinct parks--Golden Gate, Coldstream, and Caboose--containing a variety of boxes, rails, jumps, and other hits. Features range from beginner to advanced. Snowboard lessons and board and boot rentals are available.
