Set along the south shore of beautiful Lake Tahoe, Edgewood Tahoe is in arguably one of the most scenic golf courses in the world. Designed by George Fazio and opening in 1968, Edgewood is rated by Golf Digest Magazine as one of "America's Top Golf Courses". A challenging but fair test of golf for all ability levels, a choice of four sets of tees gives all golfers a course suitable to their game, playing from 5567 yards to a demanding 7445 yard test of golf. Edgewood Tahoe has played host to a variety of major golf events. In 1980, the U.S.G.A. would host an event in the state of Nevada for the first time. The 55th annual US Public Links Championship came to Lake Tahoe with Jodie Mudd, a junior at Georgia Southern College coming out on top.
The U.S.G.A. would return to Edgewood Tahoe in 1985 for U.S. Senior Open Championship. Miller Barber came away with the title that year and was the only player in the field to manage to break par that week on the demanding layout. Making birdie on three of the first four holes of the final round, Barber's three under par total bested Roberto De Vicenzo by four strokes for his second consecutive Senior Open title.
Most recently, Edgewood has been the annual home of the Celebrity Golf Championship. This fun filled event features some of the biggest names in sports and television. Donald Trump, Michael Jordan, John Elway, Mario Lemuix are just a few of the names that have graced this event. Sponsored by American Century Investments and featured on NBC annually, is golf tournament the entire family can enjoy. This years event will be held July 8-13, 2008.
